About All Saints' Foreign Missions

All Saints' Episcopal Church is a mission partner with Holy Cross Anglican School in Ambergris Caye, Belize, and Amazing Grace Children's Home /Girls School in Awasi, Kenya. Mission teams are sent by the church to Belize and Kenya in alternating years. In 2016 we will be heading back to Belize.  The mission team is currently in formation for this summer trip.

Our Newest Building Project in Kenya

Now Under Construction in Kenya:

The Barbara Tucker Cummings Guest House

The Barbara Tucker Cummings Guest House is under construction on land adjacent to the campus of Amazing Grace Children's Home and School in Awasi, Kenya. The Cummings Guest House is being built as a source of income for the orphanage and to provide vocational opportunities and safe housing for Amazing Grace graduates who do not progress to university.

Construction of the Cummings House is made possible by a generous gift from All Saints' parishioner Charles Cummings, who requested that the guest house be named in honor of his wife, Barbara Tucker Cummings.

The three-story Cummings House will offer a safe haven for living and job training for these girls, who can opt to learn culinary and hotel management skills while running the Guest House.

As a church, and as the supporters of the Amazing Grace girls for many years, we continue to offer these girls support as they enter young adulthood. Here in the U.S., a child in foster care is cut out of support after high school. We are supporting our Amazing Grace girls in higher education so they can become self-reliant adults. Amazing Grace has become a real home to these girls, and it is the place they count on to return to during school breaks. Thus, the beds for girls attending college are retained for them during college, and we as a church seek to continue to support these girls’ college educations, much as we as parents do for our own children. As of summer 2015, the oldest of our girls have graduated from high school, and we have Amazing Grace girls who are currently attending college in Kenya.

We hope that every Amazing Grace girl will score high enough on the competitive Kenyan exams to be eligible to go to college, but inevitably, there will be some girls who miss the mark, at least on their first attempt. Girls who do not pass will have the opportunity to receive additional tutoring if they wish to try the test again in hopes of raising their scores.

With the completion of the Cummings House, our Amazing Grace girls will have an additional measure of security about their futures in an uncertain world.

Amazing Grace - Kenya

All Saints' is the primary source of support for the Amazing Grace Children's Home and Amazing Grace Girls School of Awasi, Kenya. 72 girls live at the children's home. The school opens its doors to its first class of Form 1 students (high school "freshmen") on Monday, February 18, 2013. When the school is at capacity, it will serve 270 girls.

The Children's Home opened in 2005 and the Girls School officially opens February 2013. Below are recent photos of the school as it neared completion. As we receive photos of the girls in class, we'll post them here so you can share in this wonderful event!
