Guest Preacher: Dr. Thaddeus Bird

Join us this Sunday, May 10, for our guest preacher, Dr. Thaddeus Bird, former Head of School at All Saints’ Episcopal School.

Dr. Bird holds Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees from Austin College and a D.Min. in Educational Leadership from Virginia Theological Seminary. He was a 2001 Klingenstein Visiting Fellow at Teachers College, Columbia University. In 2024, he completed a Leadership Certification through Stanford’s Graduate School of Education.

Over the course of forty-two years, he served four different Episcopal schools in a variety of leadership positions, most recently serving as Head of School at All Saints' Episcopal School from 1998-2025. Other leadership and volunteer roles have included service as a Board Member of St. Stephen's Episcopal School, past Board Member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Association of Episcopal Schools, service on the Standards and Membership Committees for the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest, former Board member and Advisor for the Episcopal Church Foundation and past board member of Hope Farm, as well as a Lector and Lay Eucharist Minister with All Saints' Episcopal School and Church.

Episcopal education has been at the heart of his life's work, and he has dedicated his efforts in the classroom as a teacher, coach, and lead administrator, where he dealt with such issues as day-to-day operations, strategic planning and long-range planning, accreditation, faculty compensation and evaluation, curriculum development, and fundraising evaluation.

Dr. Bird is married to Patty and they have three children: Elizabeth, Holloway and Andrew. In addition to cross-country trips to Maine with family and/or his yellow lab Belle in tow, he enjoys reading, outdoor activities, landscaping, and grilling on the back patio.

Dr. Bird will preach at both the 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. services on Sunday, May 10. We hope to see you there!
