This ministry is focused on one-to-one confidential listening, caring, praying, and the encouragement of a fellow parishioner. Ministers are extensively trained to support care receivers going through grief, loneliness, divorce, disability, job loss, aging and other life challenges. They do not work with abuse, addiction, or mental illness, but they can refer as needed.

Here’s how you can be involved to support this vital ministry:

  • Are you a former Stephen Minister, and interested in reactivating or consulting?

  • Do you feel called to train and serve as one?

  • Are you, or do you know of mental health and legal professionals who might serve as consultants?

  • Are you involved in or do you know of community resources for socio-economic needs?

If you answered yes to any of the above, please fill out an application or referral form and return it to mthrvanliew@asecfw.org or place it in a sealed envelope for Mthr. van Liew in the White House. Or, you can complete an online application through this link.

For more information on Stephen Ministry, please contact Mthr. van Liew at mthvanliew@asecfw.org.
