A Message from the Bishop Regarding the Selection of an Assisting Bishop
I am pleased to announce the selection of the Rt. Rev. Brian Richard Seage to serve as the Assisting Bishop for the North Region of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. This comes after much discernment and collaborative work around this process and decision, and with the support of the North Region Advisory Committee and the bishops of the diocese.
Bishop Seage served as the tenth bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi. Now resigned, he was elected on May 3, 2014, at St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Jackson. He was consecrated as bishop coadjutor on September 27, 2014, and then succeeded Duncan M Gray, III, as the tenth bishop diocesan when the Rt. Rev. Gray retired in February 2015. During his tenure at St. Columb’s, Ridgeland, where he had served since 2005, Seage was elected as bishop coadjutor. He also served as dean of the Central Convocation of the Diocese of Mississippi where he helped coordinate and enable the ministry of Episcopal clergy in central Mississippi. He holds an undergraduate degree from Pepperdine University and a Master of Divinity from the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest. He has been a priest since 1998.
Our bishops and I have enjoyed working on different projects and ministries together. Like us, the Rt. Rev. Seage brings depth as a diocesan bishop, congregation and priest coach, and youth minister. He has the pastoral and the leadership skills necessary to help build the North Region of our diocese.
This is exciting for the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, and we look forward to having him on the ground at the beginning of the New Year.

I’m delighted for the opportunity to practice ministry with so many faithful Christians in the North Region and throughout the diocese.” He continued, “I look forward to working together to make Jesus Christ known to our community and the world.”
