Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ at All Saints’,

I send you warm greetings and blessings for a joyful Easter season! Each Easter we are reminded that God has new life and plenty of surprises for us around every corner. As I look forward to joining you in June, I have some news to share about our new life together.

Your strong leadership had the foresight to build a budget for 2026 that allows for us to bring in a fourth priest. With our Senior Warden, Stephanie Burk, the approval of the Vestry, through the processes of our diocese and the approval of Bishop Doyle, I have decided to invite Father Doug Kirby to join our staff as Senior Associate Rector beginning on August 18th. Fr. Doug and I have known each other for several years: we overlapped in seminary at Virginia Theological Seminary, and we’ve been taking some of the same classes in our Doctor of Ministry degree programs at Nashotah House Theological Seminary. We had the great blessing of getting to know each other better last January, when one of our courses led us to spend two weeks on pilgrimage in Rome, where we focused our learning on the ecumenical dialogue between the Anglican Communion and the Roman Catholic Church.

Father Doug is one of the most deeply faithful priests I’ve ever known and will be a tremendous gift to our community. He has years of experience in High-Church and Anglo-Catholic parishes in the Washington, D.C. area and brings a wealth of liturgical knowledge and instinct that will be a great blessing.

Before he went to seminary, Fr. Doug spent 27 years on active duty with the United States Army and retired as a Colonel in 2015. In addition to his Master of Divinity degree, Fr. Doug also holds a Masters degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College and a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Georgetown University. However, his incredible resume is only part of what led to this invitation to serve among us; I can’t wait for you to meet him and discover his warmth, his wisdom, his depth, his sense of humor, and all the ways his faith is so abundantly apparent in his life.

You can read more about Fr. Doug in his bio: Fr. Doug Kirby Biography

Please be assured of my prayers for you this Eastertide and especially as we get closer and closer to being together in just a couple of months. May the Lord bless you and keep you; may the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; may the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

Yours in Christ,

Mother Amanda
