Please join us this Sunday to welcome our special guest Preacher, The Rev. Merrill Wade.
Fr. Merrill Wade is a retired Episcopal priest living in Austin, Texas. In 1986 he entered General Theological Seminary in New York City and graduated in 1989. He was ordained an Episcopal deacon in 1989 and priest in 1990. Merrill served three congregations in Mississippi (in Vicksburg, Long Beach, and Meridian) over the next 13 years. In 2002 he and his wife, Crystal, and their two young children were called to Austin, Texas, where Merrill served as the Rector of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church for 17 years, retiring in the Fall of 2019.
Since his retirement he has served short term interims in the service of St. George’s, Austin; All Saints, Austin; St. Christopher’s, Austin and St Richard’s, Round Rock. He has served Epiphany, Calvert, Texas monthly since May 2021. Other extended supply work includes St. James, Lagrange, Texas; Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Oaxaca City, Mexico and the Church of the Transfiguration, a chapel in the Grand Teton National Park overseen by St John’s, Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Fr. Wade will lead this Sunday’s Adult Forum, “The Bible in the Episcopal Church,” a class he began teaching 35 years ago as the Curate at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Vicksburg, Mississippi. This conversational class, rooted in his classwork at General Theological Seminary, is equal parts Biblical theology and church history. We hope you will join us!
This Adult Forum begins at 10:10 a.m. in the Student Union Conference Room. Fr. Wade will also join us for our 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Choral Eucharists in the All Saints' School Chapel.
